We are a faith based community solving a crisis of identity after incarceration.
Our Mission
Our mission is to turn pain into purpose. We believe that people should grow from their past, rather than be chained to it.
The scope of our goals lie within two stages of prison reform: 1) The release of prisoners and; 2) The rehabilitation of the formerly incarcerated. Through the quality of accommodation we provide, we emphatically remind them that they are loved. They are housed, fed, and nursed for the period of six months in a well-furnished three bedroom bungalow apartment located in Sango Tedo, Lekki. We have volunteers who we call Friends of The Center helping with counselling released prisoners.
Before we rehabilitate, we work to release the wrongfully convicted. With a small network of pro-bono lawyers, we help young men who are struggling to get their case concluded in the courts where their cases remain pending.
After the period of six months they are set up by the foundation into a business of their choice. Currently, we accept three prisoners at a time, and are looking at expand in order to accommodate more guests.
Our Values
Feeding the mind
To make a lasting impact, we know that we must actively engage and include the communities we are seeking to help. We are continually learning and growing in how we show up as an authentic, ethical partner.
Feeding the body
Using the encouraging words of leaders far and near, we work to expose the formerly incarcerated to a healthy balance of motivation. We want them to leave with fertilised minds that feel rich and capable of handling whatever life has in store for them.
Partnering with Local Communities
By using the resource of money from our donors, time from our volunteers and energy from our housemates, we make sure that the former inmates feel loved and cherished throughout their six month stay. Knowing that the body is the first site of neglect and trauma, we have an ethos to make sure that they reconnect with their first home- their body.
